About.
Megan Hale, Clinical Psychologist
I am a clinical psychologist based in Windsor, Melbourne, with a relational approach to therapy. I work with adults and older adolescents experiencing relationship difficulties and broader life stressors, with a focus on understanding patterns in how people relate to others and themselves over time. This is often people who describe feeling stuck in similar relationship patterns, struggling to feel understood or connected, or finding that the same difficulties tend to show up across different parts of their lives. This work often involves exploring the influences of early experiences and attachments.
In my work, I draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) to support people in working towards practical and sustainable change.
Alongside private practice, I work in an acute hospital setting. This informs my understanding of psychological adjustment following serious illness and injury. After leaving hospital, particularly ICU, people can feel lost or unsupported, and may be dealing with cognitive, emotional, and physical changes. It is common to feel different afterwards and to need help making sense of what has happened. I support people to process these experiences and to find ways of reconnecting with everyday life in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
In sessions, I aim to create a space that feels warm and curious, where we can work together on the things that feel hard, and hopefully have a laugh along the way.

At your first appointment, we will talk about your reasons for coming to therapy. I will ask some questions about you, including your early life, important relationships, and key experiences. This helps me get a sense of your background and how best to support you. An initial assessment may take 1–3 sessions.

Please bring your referral and Mental Health Care Plan (if you have one). You are most welcome to send this prior to your first appointment.

No. A referral enables you to access Medicare rebates, but you do not need one to see a psychologist.

Yes. Online consultations are available via Zoom. I consult in-person in Windsor on Mondays and Fridays, but Zoom is always an option if this is more convenient for you.

I work with people experiencing relationship difficulties and broader life stressors, as well as those adjusting after serious illness, injury, or hospitalisation.

This varies depending on what you are coming to therapy for and what you would like to work on. Some people come for a focused period of support, while others stay for longer as they work through more complex or ongoing difficulties. We will regularly check-in with how things are going and whether therapy is still helpful for you.
